Basics
The shambling and decrepit sight of these re-animated dead has tortured the nights of Dargarth for centuries. The now risen appear to be the work of foul chaotic rites of witchcraft and necromancy. Since Kendric Flamehands’ Accords of the Natural Law of Magic has been issued, witches and necromancers alike have been captured and questioned by The Disciples of Malum on the origins of the undeath. It has been determined, through various means, that the death of Lich-cursed individuals will lead to their zombified corpses rising, and the innocent sleeping dead may be awoken through necromantic summoning, as well. To date, records are only of zombified humanoid cadavers in Dargarth, though very little still is known of the powers of necromancy on other creatures.
Behaviour
Clad in what they were wearing upon death or burial, Zombie flesh is often decayed and discoloured, hues ranging from grays to greens to yellows. Due to the decay, entire components of the body have been documented as missing. They carry simple weapons; such as clubs or ceremonial arms they were buried with, or attack with their heavy lifeless arms and putrid teeth. Zombies appear to posses dismal intelligence and are often seen swaying about with no tangible intent. Many attack on sight, as they seem to crave flesh and the nutrient rich brain. The risen corpses are assumed to have neither emotions nor connection to their previous lives and act only on primal and violent survival instincts. Their horrible moans are deafening in groups.
Combat
Rigor mortis has made their limbs and flesh stiff, and the dead have a surprising resilience to physical attacks, resisting blows that would render a living man defunct. Their movement and reflexes are sluggish, but they can attack with surprising ferocity at a moments notice. Most often seen alone or among other Zombies, they lack any semblance of strategy, avoid being swarmed and attack at a distance. However, cases have been reported of Zombies following the commands of a Lich. Organization of rotting walkers combined with the nefarious powers of the Lich might prove to be a hopeless challenge. Zombies are beings of chaos and possibly risen by fel and are dispatched with one strike of a silvered or holy weapon. Clerics and Paladins are essential to dealings with undeath.
