Biography

Sir Byron is a knight of the realm and vassal to King Monkey of Alliance, as well as appointed diplomat of that august realm.

Not much is known about the knight, as he only recently traveled from his holdings at the request of his liege lord, to serve as an emissary on the greater political stage. However he seems to be a straightforward gentleman, who doesn't hesitate to introduce himself to others. Not much is yet known of his politics and diplomatic style, but he has demonstrated willingness to step forward when others falter and offers and demands reasonable terms, even in the face of potentially superior force.

Formerly a soldier of the field, Sir Byron still enjoys trials-by-arms and has been witnessed wielding a variety of blunted instruments with competency, though on the field of battle he now restricts himself to those weapons allowed to him by his sanctified vows.

His colour is Red, and he can be known by the various shades of it he wears. His personal heraldry is currently unknown; he has only been seen displaying the heraldry of his lord and country. (It is possible that his physical heraldry was lost along with his home.) His ancestral estates are located in a southern coastal county, on the tip of Alliance peninsula.

Despite his wellborn upbringing, Sir Byron's appearance is often at odds with his background. He often has the appearance of a sailor or traveler; this is likely on account of the large periods of time he has spent at sea or traveling across long stretches of empty lands, in pursuit of his secular and religious duties.

Factoids

Fun Fact: Sir Byron purportedly worships the god of thieves, claiming that, as how in some areas of the world villages revere creatures such as rats and never suffer from plague, similarly by worshiping the god of thieves he is excluded from the attentions of members of that most ancient profession. New Developments!: Sir Byron was seen purifying the dead and healing the sick and wounded in the name and purity of unicorns.

True Story: Sir Byron is the reigning Flaming Hands champion of Dargarth (as of the summer gladiatorial games, 3 DY).

Believe it or not: but Sir Byron is somewhat a city boy. As the son of a noble house, he spent much time in the towns and cities of the region while growing up. He certainly spent time in the country as a youth and in his adulthood; he always enjoyed visiting his family estates. However the well tilled fields, trimmed hedges (free of thorns, it should be noted), and orderly gardens are not what comes to mind for many when they think of "nature."
This led to the war cry of "I HATE NATURE!" which became known at The Lay of Eliananna and Tanith Lorn; Sir Byron certainly does not really hate nature (in a "burn it down" context), but he certainly prefers it in its more civilized incarnations.

False!: "Sir Byron hates nature." Sir Byron enjoys nature; he just prefers it in its more refined states. A rose garden, a hedge maze, a terraced lawn, suitably manicured shrubberies. A well ordered informal garden or countryside suitable for steeplechase is his cup of tea.

History

3 DY

Following his appearances in the spring of 3 DY, Sir Byron was not seen for many months, and his whereabouts were unknown; it was thought that perhaps he was a casualty of the devastation that spelled the fall of Alliance.

However it is rumored that he has recently been seen, arriving at far flung inns late in the evening on a hard pressed steed. Where he has been will have to wait to be seen.

Durp, needs major updating. (If relevant ask Rasheab, otherwise will get updated sooner or later.)

After his appearance in March, Sir Byron disappeared; it was thought that perhaps he was lost along with the rest of his countrymen when Alliance fell. However in the 8th month of the year he reappeared, somewhat disheveled. By his own report he had made landfall in the northeast, on the edge of Legion lands, and had ridden hard so as to be able to attend the gathering of the peoples. After his introductions in March, he had set sail aboard a Legion caravel traveling to the east, to visit the distant lands of Endor. The ship was delayed, first with looking for a missing merchantman, and then was forced to delay near the eastern Bitter Peak island-city due to the breakout of hostilities between Mardur and the Explorers. When finally the ship was able to return to the mainland, he was set upon an unsettled shore, from which he traveled to the gathering.

The future thereafter is widely known: he attended the The Lay of Eliananna and Tanith Lorn, setting up his pavilion amongst the Legion encampment, staying neutral in the dispute between the feuding families, but doing his part to recover and protect the sacred wards. This was also his first meeting with the nation of Erzoth, who had moved quickly in the wake of destruction to "protect" his country's lands. Somewhat surprisingly physical hostilities did not ensue, but terse words were exchanged by both sides on several occasions.

Unbeknownst to most, Sir Byron had entered into negotiations with the Mercenaries of Bitter Peak to provide him manpower to reclaim his home. While Erzoth slowly expanded along the Alliance peninsula, negotiations continued. Finally at the beginning of fall, while the rest of the countries explored and built, the expedition left the eastern Bitterpeak city-isle, and made landfall at the tip of Alliance peninsula. Heading inland from the beach towards his family estates, they encountered a rude but extensive fortification which was previously unknown. A horde of bugbears left the crude palisade, and battle ensued, eventually culminating between 3 heavily armored bugbear champions, and Sir Byron along with Savalis and Uulmshar of Bitterpeak, Jebb of Moot, and...? The battle was won, and during the following fortnight, Sir Byron's home, along with the surrounding countryside, were secured, after which the mercenaries were paid and departed, leaving Sir Byron with some few retainers to pick up the pieces of his family holdings.

While much damage had been inflicted on the manor-house, the bugbear's wooden palisade was found to be much more extensive than previously assumed; it continued far underground, and contained a formerly unknown vein of gold! However there is now also a tunnel to the underdark, so the defenders of the fortification keep an eye to the inside, perhaps more than to the surrounding lands...

Future Plans

Having regained his home, and having crude but effective defenses from which to protect his lands, Sir Byron's plans for the future are currently unknown. If he were to be inclined to dispute the "ownership" by Erzoth of the lands which he had been entrusted by his lords to defend, he would still be lacking the manpower to do so. However from the tract immediately to the north comes rumors of Alliance soldiers repeatedly fending off the incursion of Erzoth and their Mardurian allies. Though he knows not these men, he wonders if there is a way to defend them, in part absolving his conscience of how he failed his duty...

4 DY

7th month: Sir Byron has continued to be fairly recluse, tending to stay on his lands at the tip of Alliance peninsula. He has made several appearances however, most recently in July to help combat the dead once again in Dryad's Rest.

After Cragon and his zombies were once again defeated, and most were self-congratulating or picking over the remains, Sir Byron secured Cragon's fell blade on the premise that Cragon will rise once again, but perhaps will be weakened by separation from his weapon.

In the eighth month, he returned to Dryad's Rest, with many of the heroes of Dargarth, to once and for all seal the font of undead which had been released the year previous. TBC
