Basics
Brigands can be found along many Human roads, and sometimes make camps further into the wilderness. A most unsavoury type, they prey upon traders and travelers, and seek to make themselves wealthy from others’ treasure. Some Brigands are hard to determine from the average Human based on their dress, but others wear masks or shield their faces with cloth. Their intent is also is not palpable upon sight.
Behaviour
A common tactic of the Brigand is to integrate themselves into a traveling group, and capture or kill the caravan in surprise. Other bandits lie in wait along roadways, and block the escape of unprotected groups. It is not uncommon for a band of Brigands to house members of other races such as Goblins or Elves. They use whatever trick in the book they can to get what they are after. They have been noted to charging tolls on roads only to ambush the parties later after they have paid the hefty fee.
Combat
Brigands are not particularly brave in battle, but they do often have the ability to slip a blade right where it does the most harm. It is advised to never turn your back on a Brigand. They often have a patchwork of armor, commonly stolen from their victims. This means they’re rarely as well equipped as a military force, but an experienced Brigand may have built up quite an arsenal. Travelers are advised to keep their wits about them when traveling.
