The Arcane Disquieting

Dargarthians~

I remember very little of the night my late Master Kendric disappeared, but I thought I should share my memories of the event I am calling The Arcane Disquieting:

I was notating Kendric's most recent discoveries concerning the Erzothian economy, he stopped strangely mid-sentence, his expression knotted, I'd never seen Master Kendric make such a face before. His entire being paused in time for just an instant, as though he somehow went somewhere far, but he remained here all the same.... "Up, at once!" He shouted at me as he began a series of complex sorceries, this was a spell-weaving which I had never fathomed. This couldn't have been the same Kendric whom had been droning on earlier of such a young economy. He had changed somehow, but nonetheless I stammered to my feet gracelessly - as I was back then, so so long ago - Kendric then again barked an order, his voice sounded odd, an echoing ripple to it somehow, "They will appear at any moment. You must defend as I finish my cast." I remember feeling such fear. I was unarmed, I only managed to fumble out a few syllables of a novice cast before the Rangers crashed through the ornate carved door of Kendric's study. I remember another ripple, and again things appeared to move all at once as well as not at all. I had absolutely no idea what was happening, I heard Kendric's castings finish - lightning ripped over my shoulder, vaporizing two of the Rangers, but even know they looked different to me. They did not cast off the scent of blood as Disciples of Malum would have, I had never seen Rangers like this - I am only calling them Rangers here because I that's the best translation the common tongue has for their true names, I've since discovered - they gave off an experience of timelessness, they felt as though they would go on forever. My palms began to warm as I realized Kendric had begun casting through me, I felt his thoughts, a razor cutting through what I thought I knew. The last roil in time I knew my body could handle, everything began sparkling with the colours of both Light and Void, Fel and Holy, Nature and Nether. The last thing I remember is a popping sound, like an imprint in the dark, a dim dull pop that I knew was my existence.

I've since learned that I knew nothing back then, and now I'm back.
