He was a crew member on a double hulled voyaging canoe that was caught in an unnatural storm. His captain and crewmates survived the wreck, but after a few hours of swimming as a group, they were attacked by sharks. While more than half of his crewmates were killed, the school of sharks left Nanaue alone. Eventually, Nanaue passed out while floating at sea and he woke up on the extremely cold shore in RagnFjord of Dargarth. Nanaue met with the people of RagnFjord and found similarities between his beliefs and theirs, taking up arms to help his new allies and learn more about their world. Nanaue is lost, as the stars in Dargarth do not look like the stars he grew up using to navigate the seas. He hopes to learn and master the new sky and find a way to sail home. The tiger shark is his ʻaumākua- familial guardian.
Appearance: When Nanaue landed on RagnFjord’s shore, he wore only his malo and hook necklace. After some dressing by his new friends, he wears an oriental vest and pants. He also wears two wraps around his waist, similar to the malo from his land. He wears a large cloth on his head and keeps his hook necklace on his neck. He is a tall, dark man, built for swimming.
Personality and Practices: Nanaue is a follower rather than a leader. He can fight an opponent head on, but will try to outmaneuver and flank as many foes as possible during an encounter. Nanaue does not value coin as currency, only practicing trade. Nanaue pays much respect to sharks- mainly the tiger shark- and treats them as family, protecting them and feeding them whenever he has a chance. He doesn’t feel the same presence of his full pantheon in Dargarth, but still pays his culture’s respects and practices when due.
Weapon Preference: Slashing weapons, florentine Nanaue owns four weapons that came with him from his land. His sibling blades “Niho and Manō,” the Shark teeth. His dagger is named “Kualā,” after the shark’s dorsal fin that glides above water. He also owns, but seldom uses, his greatsword “Kaikokoko,” meaning Bloodied Waters.
