Dwarves have AR 3.
A player whose character is a Dwarf gains no additional abilities or armor
Basics
The Dwarves are a race of short, stout Humanoids. Dwarves are on average a good deal shorter than Men, Elves, or Orcs, but very broad of chest and strong of arm. This has the effect of making them ideally suited to the tunnels in which they live and work. Their bodies seem purpose-built for manual labour, solidly muscled, broad-shouldered and large thick fingered hands that belie considerable manual dexterity. Dwarfs are a very long-lived race with life-spans that can run into centuries, or rare occasions even into a millennium. As a dwarf becomes older, his beard becomes longer and thicker. The Dwarf clans native to Dargarth don't hold a religious significance to facial hair and so some may go shaved or with heavily trimmed beards. Like the Orcs, Dwarves appear to become stronger the older they get, but unlike the Orcs, there appears to be a "Breaking Point" where the Dwarf's health declines rapidly, happening just a few years before the Dwarf dies of old age. Female Dwarves are very rarely seen outside Dwarf realms which has led many people to believe that Dwarf males can have babies or that Dwarf women have beards. This is not true. Dwarf women exist and they do not have facial hair, but they are heavily-built, armed and armoured, and are muscular and grim. Instead of long beards, females have long hair wound into similar braids, worn beneath the helmet which they treasure as greatly as males do their beard.
Behaviour
Dwarves are loyal to clan and love drinking, food and games of chance. They are expert craftsman and miners, especially in stones, gems and metals. Although armor and weapons may be stylized and engraved with great works of art, function is valued much higher in Dwarven society than beauty for beauty's sake. Although Dwarves are usually honest and keep their word, their love of wealth and gems can be said to match that of Dragons. This greed for gold has turned many a Dwarf to the path of evil, luckily the Dwarves almost religious admiration for honour keeps most selfish tendencies in check.
Combat
Reports have shown that upon various occasions, perhaps nights of great celebration, groups of drunken Dwarves have wandered out of their tunnels and attacked adventurers. Heavily armoured and with their racial hardiness, these conflicts may prove difficult, but it is suggested to not fell these intoxicated warriors out of spite. The Dwarves have no penalty for public intoxication, and it is no right to hand out punishment. No reports have surfaced of malicious attacks with any sort of intent other than drunken debauchery against adventuring groups. If plans are to cross mountain ranges though, be aware of these instances and act accordingly.
